Thus, the chairman Senate committee on the New Partnership for Africa’s Development Coordination (NEPAD), Senator Nasiru Sani Zango Daura (APC, Katsina North) has said common Currency in Africa will foster regional cooperation and strengthen economic interchanges in the continent.
The chairman further alluded to the fact that the common currency will make life much easier for Africans to engage with each other.
However, Senator Zango Daura made this known at an interactive session with members of the Senate committee on NEPAD in Abuja the lawmaker also said that the proposed currency will make life a lot easier and seamless, but added that there are a lot of technical issues that have to be straighten out, so that no country will feel been short changed.
In addition, the chairman noted that we have models that we can use and then tailor them to Africa or West Africa as the case may be and he also said this is my take on this is if we can achieve it fine, don’t forget this thing has been on and off in the sphere of Africa
Therefore, Senator Zango Daura said we have drawn work plan, we will write letters to agencies such as NEPAD, ministry of foreign affairs, Institute of Peace and Conflict Resolution among others
He explained that the committee looked at the rules and how to forge ahead with the task before it.
