The Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, has officially made known that his administration is ready to begin the implementation of the new N70,000 national minimum wage.
In accordance with the Imo state Governor, this is following the discussion held between the Imo state government and Nigeria Labor Congress (NLC), Imo chapter said, the Imo state government aimed to relief and make life easier for the citizens of the state due to the high cost of living in the country and to also enhance work force in the State.
Urging all Civil Servants of the state to be dedicated and increase in their productivity in delivering high-quality services to the State.
He said, “In line with our commitment to Imo workers, I held a productive meeting with the leadership of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) in the State to draft modalities for the swift implementation of the new national minimum wage for the State workers.
“The discussion progressed smoothly and I am optimistic that with the pace we have set, the implementation of the new wage structure will commence in no distant time.”
Comrade Chigemezu Nwigwe, the Imo state NLC Chairman, confirmed the new development and expressing confidence in the government’s commitment to workers’ welfare, stating that plans were ongoing to implement the new minimum wage.
