Enugu residents, precisely the Agu Umabor community, in Nsukka Local Government Area have reached out to the State’s Governor, sent him a Save Our Soul message following the erosion which cut the community off from the remaining part of the state.
This was made known on Monday to the newsmen in a signed statement by the President and the Secretary General of Agu Umabor Elites Group, Mr. Abonyi Gilbert Emeka and Mr. Ogbu Christopher, pleading to Governor Mbah to quickly intervene in the erosion matter and save them from passing through the death trap.
Statement reads, “We wish to draw the attention of the Enugu State government and the general public to the deplorable condition of Agu Umabor-Eha-Alumona-Breme-Mbu-Ikem road in Nsukka Local Government Area of Enugu State.”
Recalling of pleading to Governor Mbah earlier this year to save the community as the road was about to cut off the community completely by the erosion.
He said, “Agu Umabor people are law abiding citizens and have a population of about 100,000 people.
“We are predominantly farmers and this is the only road through which we bring out our farm and other agricultural produce.”
“We are again appealing to the Enugu State Government and all public spirited individuals to come to our rescue as the road needs urgent attention and may not likely survive the remaining part of the rainy season.”
