By Busari Kabirat

The Nigerian President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has officially made it known that he couldn’t travel to America as he has to change his planned trip due to the Borno State recent flood disaster which has affected over 23,000 households in Maiduguri.

President Tinubu, who was supposed to travel out of the country on an official business, changed his plans following message received about the devastating state of the flood in Borno state from the Vice-president Kashim Shettima and which was attributed to the overflow of the Alau Dam, triggered by heavy rainfall by the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).

President Tinubu while visited the palace of Shehu of Borno, Alhaji Abubakar Umar-Garbai El-Kanemi, he said: “I was going directly to America, but I had to cut off the trip to be with you, if only for five minutes.”

Assuring the victims of the federal government’s support, “I am just here to sympathize with you. I know your palace was overtaken by flood,” he said.
