Well being of citizens in FCT is paramount to me says: Sen Ireti Kingibe

Araba Kayode.

Thus, the Senator representing the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Ireti Heebah Kingibe has expressed worries over the well-being of citizens in FCT especially the indigenous communities for lack of amenities and provision of basic needs

Meanwhile, Sen. Kingibe who applaud the FCT Minister, Barr. Nyesom Wike for roads construction in Abuja plead that more attention and resources should be focus to the basic needs of citizenry in FCT especially at the rural communities; saying that the citizens will have to feed, have access to basic amenities before they could use good roads that roads can’t be used by dead people .

On the incidents at Karu market in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja, Kingibe as the one representing the majority of Nigerians striving for their livelihood through commercial engagement FCT, stated that the market plays a vital role in the communities hence, her prompt response upon hearing about the fire incidents in the market and questioned the it’s origin. However thorough investigation is ongoing, and any claims pending the official reports remain a mere allegations.she said.

However, the FCT senator expresses concern that post-fire incidents often resulted in the market being privatized through public-private partnerships with prominent developers, rendering the shops unaffordable for local traders. l firmly believe this practice is unjust. A portion of the market has already been taken over and privatized by AMAC, and I advocate for the remaining section to remain accessible to the community with its original form but with modern upgrades.

In addition, she said she intend to communicate with the chairman of AMAC, urging him to ensure that the access roads to the market remain unobstructed.

Therefore senator Ireti Kingibe stated that during her visit, she noticed that in the event of a fire, the fire trucks faced obstacles to access the scene of incident for adequate response due to additional shops encroaching upon the access road. This scenario should be prevented through strict adherence to regulations, particularly in keeping access roads clear, which is not only crucial but mandatory.
