By Busari Kabirat

According to news gathered, the Confederation of African Football (CAF), is about to eliminate its second-tier club competition, the Confederation Cup. This was started in 2004 from a merger of the CAF Cup and the African Cup Winners’ Cup.

Last year, the African Football League competition was introduced by CAF, it was started with eight teams but definitely be expanded this year inclusive of more teams and will be the major club competition on the continent henceforth.

The CAF Confederation Cup will now replace the CAF Champions League as Africa’s second-tier club competition and the winner of the African Football League will now be representing the continent in the FIFA Club World Cup.
