Economy shutdown – DSS implores NLC & TUC dialogue with federal government

By Busari Kabirat

The Department of State Services (DSS), has publicly appeal to the national organized labour unions to take a second look at their nationwide planned protest which would come up for 27 and 28 of February 2024.

The call for the national protest is coming from the Labour Unions in respect to the economy crisis within the country and this has triggered the DSS to to appeal to the Unions as this may likely cause another unexpected catastrophe which the country is trying to avoid.

The DSS is appealing to the labour unions to dialogue with the federal government rather than the national protest to get issues sorted out.

However, Peter Afunanya, who is the spokesperson for the secret police, acknowledged in a statement issued in Abuja that protesting is a legitimate right and a means for the labour movement to express its grievances as the current situation necessitates a suspension of the protest in favor of dialogue.
