No fewer than 55 wedding guests who escorted a bride home along the Damari town in Sabuwa Local Government Area of Katsina State, had been kidnapped.
The incident which was confirmed by a resident said, the sad incident occurred on Thursday, February 1st around 9pm. Adding that three local securities who volunteered to chase after the bandits in rescuing the victims lost their lives.
The source said: “Most of the hoodlums that attacked and abducted the women were those who were already crowded and riding in an open van called canter vehicle.”
“The victims were initially over 70, mostly friends to the bride, in which several others escaped after jumping off the moving canter van when the terrorists hijacked the van.”
The women were coming from Sabuwa Local Government Area, heading to Dandume before the bandits intercepted them on their way around 9pm.
The gunmen were reported to have come from the Siddi forest and confirmed to have infiltrated Tashar Nadaya, near the Gazari district border in Sabuwa local government, but before the incident the criminals were said to have killed some men and gets away with their motorcycles.
