Jose Peseiro, the Super Eagles Coach, has made known that he turned down renewal of contract which was proposed by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), just if recent, the reason been that he wanted to wait till after the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations.
Nigeria had on Monday won Guinea Bissau in a match played 1-0 to qualify for the AFCON second round, where Nigeria together will meet with Cameroon on Saturday.
Ibrahim Gusau, the NFF President, revealed to newsmen that the federation would decide either to retain or let go of Peseiro after the championship, and the Portuguese must attain some criteria before he can be given a new deal.
Peseiro told SportTv+ of reading so many misleading stories about his Nigeria stay, and the stories have been exposed by the European media to paint him in a wrong picture.
He said: “There are many difficulties, but I have never exposed them, and I will not expose them. There is so much misleading information.
“Will I continue leading the team? I have a contract until the end of the AFCON, they already proposed renewal, but I didn’t want it.”
Peseiro got a new contract on a reduced salary (from $70,000 to $50,000) in September, which ends after the AFCON.
