Adeoye Irelewuyi, Anambra State Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), has warned motorists not to make or answer phone calls while driving.
Margret Onabe, the Corps Acting Public Education Officer, who on behalf of Commander Irelewuyi said, making use of phones on the steering wheel is not only dangerous but a violation of traffic laws.
In accordance with what he said, making or receiving calls on steering could lead to road accidents, therefore urging motorists to desist from the act.
Motorists are advice to always park their cars by the side to make or answer calls and also avoid any gadget that could lead to distraction for the drivers while driving.
He also made it known that there is so much reduction in the rate of motor accidents during the last Yuletide compared to previous years, stating that the efforts of the Command in ensuring that motorists obey traffic rules.
Irelewuyi disclosed that the Command has been carrying out public enlightenment programmes on radio, and visiting parks regularly to ensure that operators comply with the rules and regulations.
Monarchs, Mayors, directed by Abia govt in mobilizing youths for police recruitment

All traditional rulers and Presidents-General of communities, together with 17 mayors, had been directed to by the Abia State Government to start the mass mobilisation of youths in filling the state’s quota in the ongoing police recruitment.
Prince Okey Kanu, the Commissioner for Information, had in a statement, regretted that the state’s allocation in the ongoing police recruitment exercise has been outrageously used ineffectively.
Statement reads, “Regrettably too, about 700 candidates invited for interview in the ongoing recruitment exercise are yet to show up.
To this end, Governor Alex Otti has directed all local government mayors, chairmen of Traditional Rulers Councils and their members in all the LGAs, Presidents-General of town unions and community leaders to immediately mobilize their youths for this very important exercise to ensure that the state’s quota is filled.”
Meanwhile, Senator Emman Nwaka, the former Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), hailed Otti for the move in the state and the 3rd Republic Senator condemned the disinterest of Abia youths in the military and paramilitary recruitment in the state.
He advice on giving little incentives to attract the youths so as to engage them in the ongoing recruitment of retired and also the benefits of the service.
He said: “Your Excellency, I welcome your efforts to encourage Abians to fill our quota in the recruitment exercise of the police, army, immigration, and the rest of them. The aloofness of our youths is worrisome.”
