Lift sanctions on Niger Northern Senator says

Northern Senators’ Forum has called on the leader of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and Nigerian President Bola Tinubu to restore electricity supply to Niger Republic.

However, the caucus said that the restriction is bringing untold hardship to the innocent citizens of Niger this was said during media chart immediately after their closed door meeting at the National Assembly in Abuja, stressed the need for the opening of airports in the country for business purposes, not to suffer citizens because of the Coup.

While regretting that the ban on the country is crippling the economic activities of states close to the Nigeria – Niger border, the northern Senators Caucus said that Nigeria should respect the Niger – Nigeria treaty mandate.

This made the Northern senators forum to called on the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), to lift the political and economic sanctions imposed on Niger.

The Forum however asks the junta in Niger to bring about a transition timetable that will last not more than two years
